Token did not reply. What happened?
Token did not reply. What happened?
A few common reasons:
- In a group channel, you need to mention it. Token stays quiet in shared channels unless you get its attention with a mention. In a direct message, no mention is needed. See Where to reach Token.
- It is working on a longer task. Token replies when the work is done, which can take a moment for bigger requests.
- It is waiting on an approval. If the task needs an action that requires sign-off, it may be paused until an admin approves it. See Approvals.
Why did Token ask for approval?
Why did Token ask for approval?
Token was about to do something against a connected service that is not yet
known to be safe, so it paused for an admin to confirm. This is by design. As
admins approve the safe actions, these prompts become rare. Admins can review
what was approved with
/token-audit.Why can Token not do something I asked?
Why can Token not do something I asked?
Usually one of:
- The tool is not set up in this chat yet. A tool only works in the channels you have shared it with.
- The action is blocked by a rule. An admin can review and change rules
with
/token-rules. - It genuinely is not supported. Token will tell you when that is the case.
Is my data safe?
Is my data safe?
Token acts through its own access to the tools you connect, scoped to what you
approve, and only in the channels you share them with. Sensitive actions go
through an approval check enforced by the server, not the AI, so the safety
rules hold even if a message tries to convince Token otherwise. Read more in
Approvals.
Can Token message other people or channels?
Can Token message other people or channels?
Yes, when you ask it to, and within the same permission rules. Sending to an
external party from a less trusted place is exactly the kind of action that is
set up to require an admin’s approval.
How do I set up a new tool?
How do I set up a new tool?
The quickest way is to ask Token in the chat. If the tool is not set up yet,
it posts a Set it up card so you can connect an account and share it with
that channel without leaving the conversation. You can also do it from the
dashboard’s Integrations page. See Setting up tools. If
the service you want is not available, ask whoever administers Token for your
team.
